Included with each of our new PCs is a set of custom recovery CD/DVDs. These discs contain a complete image of your system with Windows and all of your hardware device drivers installed, along with all of the software that came bundled with your hardware. If for some reason your computer becomes corrupted and fails to boot into Windows due to a virus, bad software installation, or anything else, you can use these to restore your system back to the way is was upon delivery without having to go through the trouble of re-installing everything from scratch. Be aware, however, that if you use the recovery set to restore your system, you may lose what ever information you had on your PC. So be absolutely sure that you either have a backup of your data somewhere, or can afford to lose what’s on your hard disk.

Step One: Boot Computer with disc labeled "Recovery Boot Disk" in upper CD Drive.
Recovery Step 1
Restart your computer with the "Recovery Boot Disk" in the upper CD Drive. If your computer tells you to "Press any key to boot from CD", do so. When you get to the main Acronis screen, first click the option "Restore Image". This option is circled in red on the screenshot above for your convenience.

Step Two: Begin the Recovery Wizard.

Next, Click "Start Now".

Step Three: Recovery Wizard Popup Window.

The Recovery Wizard will now start, and a window will pop up. Click "Next" at the bottom of this window.

Step Four: Select The Recovery Image File.

The next screen that appears will ask you to select an Image Archive. At this point, remove the Recovery Boot Disk from the CD Drive and replace it with the Recovery Disk. Wait 10 Seconds to allow your computer to recognize the CD, then browse the CD Drive in the left pane (circled in red in the image above) and highlight the file "Recovery" that appears there. Click "Next" (circled in black in the image to the left).

Step Five: Image Verification.

At this point, you can choose to verify your recovery image before restoring. Choose whether or not you would like to do so, and click "Next".

Step Six: Select Partition

Select the hard disk partition to restore the archive image to. In most cases, you will want to be sure to restore to "Disk 1" and "C". These options should already be selected by default. Verify that they are and click "Next".

Step Seven: Partition Resizing

Leave the option "No, I do not want to resize partitions" selected (It should already be selected by default). Click "Next".

Step Eight: Disk Selection

This screen may appear if you have more than one hard disk in your computer. If it does, make sure "Disk 1" is selected and click "Next".

Step Nine: Confirmation of Partition Deletion

Finally, you will be asked if you want to delete the existing partition on the drive. If select "No", you cannot recover your system to the selected drive. If you select "Yes", the selected partition will be deleted and the recovery will begin. Please be sure you have a backup copy of your data before proceeding as everything on the disk will be lost. Recovery should take aroud 30 minutes or so.
