Q: I have been having trouble with Microsoft Outlook 2007. All of a sudden, when check my mail, new messages arrive in my inbox. However, once I read them, they disappear. I didn’t delete them, and now all my mail has vanished! Do I have a virus or something?

-Melissa from Las Vegas.

A: Hi, Melissa. It sounds like you somehow managed to turn on your inbox filter. Go into Outlook, right-click anywhere in the white area of your inbox window, and left click on “Filter”. A windows will pop up with 4 tabs on it. Click on the one that says, “More Choices”. On that page there should be several check-boxes. Make sure the top one is not checked, or if it’s a filter that you do use, make sure the dropdown list next to it does not say “unread”.
